So, I've seen so much on chalk paint-it was just too enticing. I have just started refinishing furniture so I am definitely no expert! The evidence is sitting in the garage now. So, anyway, the chalk paint. I decided to use a recipe I found online

I really don't know where this recipe came from -I found it from a yahoo image search. I really want to use what works best, and it's just in my nature to research to a fault. That being said, I used this recipe, and I also ordered the Annie Sloan paint so I could compare. More on that later, but I did get 2 paints, the clear wax and dark wax, and two wax brushes. But, I want to show you my amateur efforts with the chalk paint recipe.

Okay, so my photos are lacking in detail...I'm learning. But, let me just tell you! This really worked well, distressed well, and I love it! I used Valspar paint, Mini-wax Paste in Natural (or something like that), and, of course, I sanded to distress it.
This is a closer look at the piece. It turned out with a beautiful satin finish. This is one area that I am having trouble when using the AS chalk paint. But, to be fair, I need to try it completely on a piece from start to finish. So, there it is. You CAN make your own chalk paint, and save more than a few dollars without compromising anything.
