It has been a while since I’ve written…
Well, the kids and I spent the last week settling into a home in the wonderful, beautiful North Carolina mountains, specifically, in the artsy, interesting, full-of-life little town of West Jefferson.
The internet is now up (praise the Lord…really. I praise the Lord. I NEEEED internet.) Woohoo!
But, while I have internet, I left my camera at my daughter’s dance recital…that was right after having lost my car keys the night before. This pattern repeats itself. Often.
So, just checking in! I’m working on a terrible piece of ugly furniture that is in terrible (did I already use that word? Well, it’s deserving of the title) shape. I sanded and sanded. Last night, I decided to just forget it, and give a try at painting it.
Here are the options I’m considering:
1. Paint it a bright color to liven it up (I am. Turquoise.)
2. Use my home recipe for chalk paint. No measuring for me. (Did this.)
3. If the piece still looks funky I’m going to thicken up the paint –one of the many things I love about chalk paint- and paint it with thick paint marks.
4. Or! If that doesn’t work my brilliant daughter (11 years) suggested decoupage something on the top or whatever areas are disaster areas.
It’s just a little side table, but it that looks like it has spent many nomadic years roughing it as a college dorm table, desk, side table, drink stand…who knows. I figured at least it will be good practice! I’ll post pictures soon.
