But, I'm sharing my streaming thoughts because maybe you can relate.
The Pep-Talk
I have worked out since I was a kid. My mom owned a gym in the 80s that had those jiggly band things to "jiggle"the fat off you.
Really.
To her credit, it was no fault of her own. That was what we knew at that time.
But, what about now?
I have spent my life passionate about fitness and health, a slave to fitness, demeaned by the men in my life (but not now!) about my physical attributes, and all together mixed up as to what fitness is all about.
What fitness and health is not:
It is not WHO you are
It is not how you evaluate your self worth.
It is not a measure of your beauty
Health and fitness is:
A measure of the longevity of Your life and the productive years you make available to yourself.
It is a CHOICE.
Your well-being will be and is right now YOUR responsibility.
So, what would we possibly let get in the way?
Life.
Kids.
Husbands.
Wives.
Time.
PTA. Or whatever for public schoolers
Lesson plans. Co-ops. Study. Field trips. For homeschoolers.
Work.
Hobbies.
Non-Essential Activities.
Homeschool.
Kids.
Husbands. (Hmm, I said those last ones already, didn't I..)
So, with all that sucking our time and energy, what can we possibly do?
Here's the good news-this is it! (I told you this was just my written train-of-thought...maybe I should have warned you that my little train never stops-hence the serious random wordiness.) I'm getting to the thing I'm been trying to get out here.
You can take action. Right. Now. Seems so simple. I guess I could have been done with just those words. Aren't they powerful? Take. Action. Right. Now.
And, none of us really have an excuse for the "right now." We'll think up one if you give us time....so don't give yourself the time! Action is now!
How?
Wake up earlier.
Throw out processed food.
Stop being a short -order cook.
Take care of yourself.
Start the day with your Bible.
And, when you start taking care of yourself mentally, spiritually, and emotionally, you are in the right place to want to/need to/desire to! take care of yourself physically!
Pretty great how that works-and all we have to do is take one action. And then another.
And, remember this, too:
Above all know that you are not promised tomorrow.
So forget about the laundry for a moment. Hug your kids. Love on your spouse.
And get and stay fit. For yourself. And for those you love.
